The two companies have over 83 years of combined experience developing hardware and software solutions focused on disaster recovery, data storage, audit-proof archiving and data security. GRAU DATA and Cristie Data products have formed part of solutions for several major technology vendors including HP, IBM, DellEMC, NetApp, Commvault, StrongBox and many others. Blocky for Veeam® is based on the Blocky Suite of cybersecurity technologies and marketed through the Cristie Distribution & Partner sales division Cristie.Partners.

Cristie Bare Machine Recovery - CBMR for Windows is released. The solution is also distributed by IBM integrating seamlessly with IBM Tivoli Storage. Cristie is the first company to offer software that can complete a complete automated recovery on dissimilar hardware.

Realising the potential of ILM and storage alongside network backups, Herbert GRAU and Ulrich Lechner form GRAU DATA in 1998. The integrated archiving system INFINISTORE is developed combining magnetic tape libraries, network computers, disk drives and a first generation archiving software. INFINISTORE systems are one of the first NAS archive appliances in the world, with over 100 systems installed in Germany and across Europe.

Cristie enter the professional IT sector with development of SDB backup software for DOS and Novell Netware.
